About time!

Forgot to mention that we finally got to see Mike's movie, 88 Minutes, with Al Pacino. The critics hated it, but we both thought it was pretty good. Definitely keeps you guessing throughout. I've seen much worse, that's for sure.

New WTF!

Okay, I realized I hadn't followed through on my WTF idea. The new winner -- it's all over the news so I'm not going to bother posting a link -- the guy in Austria keeping the family in the cellar. Alright, so I might have to retire this idea already. Never heard anything this crazy before. It will definitely be hard to top this one. There aren't words to describe this level of insanity, unfortunately.

Yum!

We had our taste testing for the reception tonight. All I can say is there are going to be many happy (and very full) guests when they get a load of their meals! Wow--very impressive. There will be four entrees to choose from and they're all equally delicious -- grilled salmon, ribeye steak, grilled chicken with pasta and vegetarian/cheese lasagna. Got to sample some wines and even bring home leftovers to boot. Met the DJ also. I really can't believe how wonderful all the people have been to work with and how accommodating they are being for us. I can't recommend this place enough. I'm so psyched to throw this party! Less than 4 months to go....

GO WINGS!!!!

Moving right along...

More wedding updates. We got the girls' dresses ordered yesterday. What a relief and we're excited! They aren't the typical hideous bridesmaid dresses. In fact, I'm pretty confident they will wear them again! I certainly never had that luck with the ones I had (no offense to anyone). Times have definitely changed is all I will say.

Mike and I are meeting with the people at McFadden's on Tuesday to do our taste testing and work on the details for the reception. Once that's out of the way, it will be time to order the invitations.

Whew, only 4 months from Tuesday will be the big day! I'm so excited because things have really come together so quickly and really so easy. I sure hope the day is as care free and fun! In the meantime, now the girls and I are on the quest to be the biggest loser in the weight department. It's definitely time to get on track with that. One day at a time...

In other news, Mike's birthday was Friday. Only one more year until the big 4-0. I'll be there at the end of this year. Unbelievable. I felt horrible because we were supposed to go to the movies. I took him for a yummy dinner at Logan's, then proceeded to leave my credit card at the restaurant, so by the time we got back and the manager got it out of the vault, we were late for the movie. I tried to be slick and take him to another theater instead. It would've worked out perfectly except I picked the one theater in town that wasn't showing the movie at 7:30 p.m. (it didn't start again until 8:50) and he didn't want to wait around. I felt terrible!!! We did come home and watch the rest of the Red Wings game, but still. . . SO, I owe him a movie now. I did make brownies to try and make up for it. He was understanding, but still, I felt like a schmuck.

Keke update

I forgot to post that Keke had successful dental surgery last week. She originally went in to have her lower left canine removed, but the vet thought it would be best to have the right lower taken out too since the dental disease was starting there too. He also found that some of her small top teeth had been diseased and looked to have broken off at some point. He was able to take care of the remaining root tissue that was there. Surprisingly, the cost of all this was not bad at all. It did entail Mike having to drive her to Kalamazoo and back but the people were so nice to work with that I'm glad we followed through with this. If you ever need a pet dentist, Oakwood Animal Hospital in Kalamazoo is the place to go! I wish we lived closer but the cats just don't like that hour drive one way.

In any event, Keke is doing great. She tolerated her pain medicine and is healing fine. I think she has to feel much better than before. Of course, she looks a little odd without the bottom teeth but they didn't help her with eating anyway so she's not having much of an adjustment without them. She's such a doll and such a little trooper!

Success!

I managed to find a wedding dress the first day out shopping. It started off pretty grueling but ended up working out perfectly! Now we just need to get the girls' dresses taken care of, which I hope will be finished up next week. It is so nice getting things crossed off my list. I think the pace is going to start picking up now. I'm still not feeling too stressed but I imagine that will change as we get closer. Mostly, I'm just anticipating seeing all our plans come together.

On a totally different note, I ventured into the world of public transportation today. Since Mike needs the Escape on Thursdays, and I was sick of asking co-workers for rides, I decided to bite the bullet and ride the Rapid. I had plotted out my route and schedule and everything went according to plan! Of course, I did have to get up earlier in order to be out the door at 6:45 but it was a pleasant morning and the 15 minute walk to the stop was refreshing. The whole thing cost $2.60 round trip--less than a gallon of gas these days! If gas prices get close to $4, I may be doing this more often. A month pass is only $35. I usually spend more than that for each fillup--once a week! Most everyone thinks I'm losing my mind. I don't really see it is a big deal. I could save about $120 a month at that rate--what's not to like about that??

Well, it may be raining and yucky out, but at least it's Friday tomorrow. TGIF! : )
